This Website is dedicated to the men of the United States Armys' 2nd Ranger Battalion, who took part in the pivotal military operation of the Second World War: Operation Overlord- The invasion of Normandy on June 6th 1944. Never in the history of man has such a force been assembled for such a noble cause.
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
We are a group of men from the NY/NJ/PA region with a common interest in the history of the Second World War. We attempt to accurately portray a platoon from E Company, 2nd Ranger Battalion of the United States Army as they would have appeared on the European Front during 1944/45, with.an emphasis on the D Day Landings.
By doing this, our hope is to help preserve the memory of the sacrifices made by the combat infantrymen of WW2.
As a reenacting society we participate in mock tactical battles using correct WW2 period uniforms, weapons, and gear in order to try to understand and experience a small amount of what it must have been like to be an infantry soldier in the ETO.
We also participate in Living History/Static Displays at museums, airshows and militaria events, where we set up period encampments and interact with the public. These are both fun and educational events where people can see, touch (with permission), and ask questions about WW2
equipment, vehicles and weaponry.
Many of our unit members have extensive personal collections of original WW2 uniforms, equipment and vehicles, as well as large reference libraries of pertinent books, videos, and dvds. Our group, has on several occaisions, been invited to the West Point Military Academy to display our militaria collections at their wonderful museum. We have also been asked to present our Ranger impression to the 3rd year Cadets during a "Soldiers of the Ages" timeline sponsored by the Military History Department of the Academy.
Members of our unit have been seen in an episode of The History Channels series "Man, Moment and Machine". Other members have participated in Spike TVs "Gamehead" as WWII GIs in "The Call of Duty 3 Challenge", where video gamers are put into live action situations reminiscent of the videogame.
